People's Choice

Drummer and bandleader David Thompson recently reformed the People’s Choice band with new members Stanley Stazan Thomas (bass and vocals); Darnell Jordan (guitar and vocals) and vocalist Tony Strong, replicating the sound and groove of the original outfit. At the behest of legendary Philly Soul producer Butch Ingram, the new People’s Choice band entered the studio in 2016 to record a full-length album. The resulting album entitled “Jammin’ Philly Style,” contains some new material and updated versions of the legendary funk band’s biggest hits - “Do It Any Way You Wanna,” "Party Is a Groovy Thing" and “"Jam, Jam, Jam (All Night Long)," as well as some great reworks of classic Philly soul hits including “Me And Mrs. Jones,” “Back Stabbers,” and “TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia) [Soul Train Theme].” Members of Ingram, the legendary Philly soul band appear on the album as well, and the sound remains as authentic a representation of the People’s Choice funky originality as the initial conception of the classic band who upped the funk factor and elevated the sound of Philly soul to a whole new level.
